Car Boot and Antiques Fair Purchases

On Sunday I got up early to visit the local boot fair, I was really tired from staying up too late reading on Saturday night, but thought of all the bargains I might miss if I stayed in bed. I also went to an Antiques Fair and bought a few more bits. 

I picked up some buttons, some pretty ones shown here, but also a big bag full that will hopefully be useful for some crafts.

One stall had lots of embroidery threads, mine are all DMC so I had a good rummage and picked out these ones. They were such a good price I couldn't resist getting so many. There were lots more, but I thought this was enough for one day.

I found a couple more Upcott Bears and a tiny owl. The other bears are Peter Fagan ones which I also collect, they were from the Antiques Fair and a little more expensive.

At the Antiques fair I also got some lovely glass buttons, they are quite old and very good quality. I have quite a collection of vintage glass buttons now.

I spent the rest of Sunday watching the Men's Wimbledon Final, what an epic! I was pleased to see Roger Federer break the record by wining his 15th grand slam, but thought Andy Roddick played so well and really didn't deserve to lose. 

Boot Fair Bargains

It was nice when I woke up on Sunday morning so I decided to go to the local boot fair again after my success last week. I didn't do as well this week but I did get some interesting things. A DMC Bunnykins cross stitch kit for £2.50, it is of a bath time scene. I enjoy doing cross stitch when I don't have the inspiration to design something myself. I started on this kit on Sunday afternoon and shall pick it up in the evenings when I don't have the energy for anything more complicated.

I spent £1 on three embroidery books, they tell you about the different stitches and include lots of charts for small designs. Might be useful.

I also got a bag full of tapestry wool for 50p, I didn't have any tapestry wool before. I will get some canvas soon and try to make up my own design, I am not sure what to use it for yet, perhaps a cushion.

I visited the regular stall that has vintage linens and sewing items. I bought some buttons from the rummage box. I only spent 60p this week, my favourites were some cute pale blue flower buttons, on the right of the photo.

The only other thing I bought was a tiny Upcott teddy bear for my collection. It was only 10p and I like to give them a good home.

Brooches

I have been inspired to put more effort into making my brooches and filling my Folksy shop with pretty things. I have been rummaging in my fabric drawers and button boxes to find interesting and coordinating bits to decorate the knitted flowers I had already made. Here are some pictures of my favourites.

I have found some lovely bits of fabric I would like to use, now I need to knit some flowers in matching colours. I hope this extra effort will help me to get my first sale.

Buttons

I went to our storage container on Saturday hoping to find some of my craft items that I have been missing. I was able to find my big buttons tin, box of craft books, embroidery threads and wadding. I spent most of Saturday afternoon sorting out all the boxes I had bought home, I managed to find room for most things, or at least know where I am going to try and keep them. I need to do some more sorting out of my craft room to fit the various boxes and furniture in better.



I spent far too much time on Sunday afternoon sorting my button tin out, it was worth it though, as the buttons are now in separate bags for different colours or shades of colours depending on how many there are. It was fun to see what was in the tin, I found some nice old glass buttons, very similar to the art deco ones I bought on eBay recently.



All this sorting out left little time to do any actual craft so I just continued knitting my green top. It is coming on very well and the back is now about 25cm long.

Busy Day

I started the day by making some vegetable soup. Not as good as last weeks attempt, but that was due to the vegetables I used rather than the quality of the soup. I also made some bread, some chocolate biscuits (not many of those left) and some stew for dinner.

I have been very crafty as well. I finished this cross stitch picture of Florence from the Magic Roundabout, which is for a birthday present. I made a brooch for a friends daughter, she likes pink so I put as much pink in as I could. I was able to use my new pinking shears to cut the felt, I am really glad I have some now as they are so useful, I am looking forward to using them on more projects.

I now need to tidy up and get the rest of dinner ready. I will start another project tonight, perhaps some more knitting, possibly a slightly larger item.

More parcels

I received my other parcels today. Firstly the vintage buttons I won on eBay, they are very pretty. I am collecting vintage buttons for no other reason than I love buttons, I don't plan to use them in any of my craft projects. I have a Cath Kidston button tin that I might keep my collection in, but I have just bought the really cute bag that you can see in the photo from Folksy, I might keep them in there instead. The bag came from Asking For Trouble.

I received my needlecase from PaperFish, also on Folksy. The case is gorgeous and I was really impressed with the packaging, all the really nice little bits that came with it, made me really happy.

My Cash's name tags also arrived, but there was an error in the text so I can't use them Hopefully they will send me out some correct ones, I will have to wait for their reply to Paul's email. 

Not sure what craft project to do today.  I should really tidy up the mess I made in the craft room yesterday as I can't really get to anything.

Parcels

My day off today, had a walk around the shops and bought a few things. I found some yellow fabric, gold beads, and some buttons. I wasn't able to get any toy stuffing so I have a half empty owl waiting for some insides.

Some parcels arrived in the post, some lovely fabric from PhatsheepFabrics.etsy.com and some badges from http://www.folksy.com/shops/milomade. Very exciting to have pretty things arrive. I have a few more parcels on the way, nice to have something to look forward to.
